What is The Race for the Eagle? It’s a friendly competition between each of the classes celebrating a reunion year. There are three ways to win the race: 1) Your class has the largest class gift 2) Your class has the highest % of participation (Did you know every little bit helps? A high alumni giving rate helps Mary Washington in national rankings!) and 3) Highest number of classmates participating in the Race for the Eagle.
What Counts during a Reunion year?
- Any gift to any designation received this fiscal year (July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013).
- Any annual pledge received through a Committee phone call/letter or through Phonathon (to be paid by June 30, 2013)
- Multi-year pledges (Example a pledge of $500 for five years would count as $2,500 toward your class gift)
- All matching gifts received from July 1, 2012, to June 30, 2013.
- All known estate/bequest pledges made since your last reunion in 2008.
Remember if you have named UMW in your estate plans and have not yet let UMW know it can count toward your class gift!
Recent Class Standings
We hope you’ll find this chart both encouraging and motivating as you consider making a contribution toward your class gift.
“Total Amount of Gifts and Pledges Received” is an all-inclusive sum of your class giving which includes all gifts, pledges, cash, matching and estate/bequest pledges.
“Total Donor Cash Gifts this Year” is simply the cash and matching gifts that have been made this fiscal year.
If you have any questions or would like assistance with making a gift please contact Stacy Pierce at spierce3@umw.edu or 540/654-2067.
