Corporate Giving
Philanthropic partnerships with UMW are key to the University’s role as our region’s premier liberal arts institution—from supporting students, faculty, and research opportunities, to expanding the reach of a corporation’s commitment to innovation, community engagement, and academic excellence. Contact us to discuss the most viable option for supporting UMW with charitable support.
Fellowships and scholarships support exceptional students who will become global leaders, innovators, and researchers. Corporate sponsors may establish endowments or make other outright gifts to provide financial support to students.
Scholarships may be awarded based on a student’s declared major, special talent or skill, grade point average, financial need, geographic location, or other designated affiliations or interests. Fellowships provide financial support to enable research or training opportunities in a particular field. Awards recognize student accomplishments and are typically made at the end of the academic year.
Corporate sponsors supporting student and faculty research signal an organizational commitment to academic excellence. UMW promotes a culture of teaching innovation and scholarly inquiry. This encourages the exploration of emerging academic technologies as well as other instructional and creative resources.
Endowments, professorships, fellowships, and awards acknowledge the accomplishments of dedicated faculty and staff. Endowed chairs and professorships honor distinguished leaders in their fields and offer support for academic and research efforts.
Corporate support may create and name endowments to enhance academic programs, international study opportunities, or research capabilities; or they may support campus beautification, student activities, operations, special projects, or cultural enrichment.
Many gifts to the University enable donors to name scholarships or professorships. Donors of program endowments of $50,000 or more may also name spaces on campus.
A number of options are available for the transfer of real estate assets, including investment or commercial property.
Through matching gift programs, many companies will match charitable contributions made by their employees and often spouses of employees. Connect to our matching gift database to find out if your company has a matching gift policy and to download the correct forms.

Our alumni can be found in an amazing array of businesses, government agencies, schools, and not-for-profit organizations. Some have risen through the ranks to executive positions here and abroad, some are entrepreneurs running successful enterprises, and some are teachers and professors.
Recruitment programs and internship opportunities establish early relationships between high-achieving students and prospective employers, and UMW provides a number of resources to cultivate these relationships through the Center for Career and Professional Development.

The beautiful main campus of Mary Washington is set in Downtown Fredericksburg atop Marye’s Heights, a steep hill with Civil War fame. With its first building built in 1911, the neo-classical and Georgian architecture of the campus is pleasingly settled amongst green spaces and mature hardwood trees. Two other campuses in Stafford and Dahlgren, Virginia house graduate, business, and continuing education programs. Our Visitors site provides maps, directions, and a new virtual campus tour.
We would love to host you on campus. Contact us to schedule an onsite tour.
