UMW Young Alumni
Alumni who graduated in the last 10 years and who are under the age of 35 are considered Young Alumni and are a vital part of our community. The Young Alumni Council (YAC) fosters relationships with these alumni to maintain their involvement with the University, furthering the welfare and mission of UMW.

Council Operations
The council comprises up to two representatives from each class of the last 10 years. New members are selected by vote at the April meeting, and terms begin July 1.
- Advocate for and promote the social, professional, philanthropic, and service interests of young alumni.
- Communicate ideas and agendas from our constituents to UMW.
- Serve as a “think tank” for ideas to engage young alumni.
- Represent the interests of young alumni to the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement and to the Alumni Board.
- Be ambassadors for the Office of Alumni Engagement.
- Represent and promote the University in our own local communities.
- Educate current students on the value and importance of becoming active alumni.
- Educate young alumni about the goals, purposes, projects, and services of the Alumni Association.
- Interact with other alumni organizations, such as Student Alumni Ambassadors and the Alumni Association Board of Directors, to achieve these goals when interests of the groups overlap.
