Join us for UMW’s inaugural Student Alumni Ambassadors Conference!
The University of Mary Washington is excited to host a Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA) Conference this fall. Join us from Friday, November 13 – Saturday, November 14 on UMW’s Fredericksburg campus for two days of connection, collaboration, and professional development.
We look forward to bringing together SAA programs from across the region, and we will have guest speakers from institutions including Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Tech, and William & Mary.
For many years, the national CASE ASAP (Affiliated Student Enhancement Programs) network enabled student ambassador programs to connect. Those opportunities diminished when CASE ASAP was discontinued, and our hope is to create a similar opportunity.
Over the two-day program, we’ll discuss topics such as student philanthropy, campus visibility, member recruitment and retention, and more. Refreshments will be offered between sessions, as well as heavy hors d’oeuvres during the Networking Reception on Friday. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday.

Day 2: Saturday, November 14
8:30 – 9:30 a.m. | Breakfast Buffet & Table Talks
9:30 – 10:30 a.m. | Day 2 Welcome – Session 1: Student Philanthropy Lightning Presentations and Panel
10:45 – 11:30 a.m. | Session 2 Breakouts: Faculty/Staff Advisors Breakout, Student Ambassadors Breakout
11:45 a.m. | Trolley ride to lunch at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center
Noon – 1:00 p.m. | Lunch and Closing Remarks
1:15 – 2 p.m. | Trolley ride through Historic Downtown and to Carl’s Frozen Custard
Who should attend?
This conference is open to colleges and universities in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. that have a student alumni association or ambassador program. Designed for current students and faculty and staff alike, the program offers an opportunity to hear from — and collaborate with — peer institutions running similar programs. Each school should bring at least one faculty/staff advisor and up to five student representatives, who will take part in breakout sessions facilitated by UMW’s own SAAs.
Registration is $50 per person, with a 10% early bird discount if you register by October 9. A faculty/staff advisor should complete the registration, adding additional staff and students as guests. Registration closes November 6.
